Meet Amie

I see beauty and creativity in everything and strive to live my life as such. Since I was a child I’ve enjoyed fashion, art, theater and photography. I was always the one with a camera growing up. When I was 20, I took a few classes and decided to pick it up professionally.

Since 1995, I have managed a high school senior portrait program for a national photography studio, photographed professional sports events, weddings, celebrity concerts and was an event photographer for a well-known Steakhouse as well as city publications. My favorite so far has been participating in art shows where I can express myself creatively.

I have a wide range of interests in life and photography. I prefer the diversity to specializing in anything specific. I am never bored! Art and photography aren’t about conforming. It’s about what’s inside of you. And if you want to make money you just cross your fingers and hope people like what’s in your soul.

About 10 years into my photography career, I found myself also doing client’s makeup which led me to enrolling in Esthetician School to become a certified makeup artist. Ironically, I took a greater interest in skincare and my makeup services lasted only about six months. I worked in a few spas, became an Esthetics Instructor at two College campuses and was later promoted to the Director, all the while still doing photography.

During this time I taught my students business, marketing and trade skills. I also oversaw all operations of the program. When I left that position in 2012 I moved to Denver and have been self-employed doing both clinical skincare and photography ever since!

I work with my clients’ individual comfort levels in skincare and spend a great deal of time educating the public on how to look the best we can at the age we are, without compromising non toxic and environmentally friendly standards.

Personally I love animals, nature, fashion, both city and country life. I love to cook and though I love all food my favorites are Mediterranean and fresh Southern Cuisine. I find myself drawn to old architecture, especially Victorian and Gothic. I love to visit new places and explore different cultures. My travels typically involve seeing something historic and eating at the locals favorite restaurant.

I listen to music as often and loudly as possible. And just like everything else, my musical interests are very broad –  grunge, classical, jazz, bluegrass,  reggae, metal, old school hip hop and electronica.

Living in a few different states around the country has been a great experience; I’ve learned a lot and met a lot of cool people along the way. I am finally back to my Carolina roots, where I am happiest. I’d probably live in Europe if given the opportunity though I have never been overseas.

People I admire include Stevie Nicks, Dolly Parton and Mother Theresa. I once had a student describe me as a hippie with Fendi bags and I think that’s pretty accurate. In typical Leo fashion, everything I do both personally and professionally, I strive to offer excellence in a beautiful environment that makes people feel welcomed, happy and luxurious.

We have one life friends, lets have fun, create memories and look good while doing it. 😉
